Executive Recruitment
Mark Neale, Director General

"This is a new role which offers you tremendous scope to shape the culture of the Bar Standards Board and to implement the HR strategies which will support that culture."

Mark Neale, Director General

Welcome

I am very pleased that you are interested in becoming the Head of People at the Bar Standards Board – the regulator of barristers.  Our role is to ensure the independence, quality and diversity of the Bar and, by doing so, to promote the rule of law and access to justice.

This is a new role which offers you tremendous scope to shape the culture of the Bar Standards Board and to implement the HR strategies which will support that culture.

As a member of the Bar Standards Board’s Senior Management Team, reporting to me, you will also share collective responsibility for leading the organisation forward.

This opportunity arises because the Bar Standards Board has decided that it should now establish its own HR function in order to ensure that the distinctive requirements of a regulator are reflected in how we recruit, motivate and develop our people.

Up to now, the Bar Standards Board has shared an HR service with the General Council of the Bar of which it forms an independent part.  Maintaining a constructive partnership with other parts of the General Council of the Bar will also be a key part of your role.

You will find that the Bar Standards Board is a professional, dynamic and flexible organisation.  We hugely value diversity and will be pleased to receive applications from people of all backgrounds and perspectives.  We take very seriously living up to our values of fairness & respect, independence & integrity, and excellence & efficiency.

I very much hope that you apply to be our Head of People and enjoy the process.

Mark Neale
